Lavender Fields near the Village of Cobusca Noua

In summer, Moldovan Instagram floods with different colours: first it turns yellow with rapeseed, then scarlet with poppies, now purple with photos from lavender fields, and in August it's all sunflowers and wheat.

Of all the plants, lavender is perhaps the most striking in a photo. Instagrammers come all the way from Kyiv just to take a picture in Moldovan lavender!

Lavender in Moldova is grown not only in the centre and south of the country, but even in the north. So if you've only heard of the fields in Cobusca Noua, Mincenii de Jos or Valea-Trestieni, here are 9 more places we recommend visiting:

1. Cobusca Noua, Anenii Noi district, 35 km from Chisinau. The field, about 100 hectares in size, lies between the villages of Socoleni and Cobusca Noua. 

2. Mincenii de Jos, Rezina district, 60 km from Chisinau. This is probably the largest plantation in Moldova — 200 hectares of lavender bushes. The field is on the outskirts of the village, so it's not that hard to find.

3. Valea-Trestieni, Nisporeni district, 92 km from Chisinau. The Lavanda De Moldova field is a small plantation, but no less picturesque.

4. Donduseni, 167 km from Chisinau. The Lavanda Moldova field.

5. Pirlita, Falesti district, 137 km from Chisinau. This field is in the north of Moldova, not far from the city of Balti.

6. Hrusova, Criuleni district, 20 km from Chisinau. 

7. Gordinesti, Edinet district, 220 km from Chisinau.

8. “Lavandiţa”, Cimiseni, Criuleni district, 25 km from Chisinau. 

9. Goian, Dubasari district, 45 km from Chisinau.

10. Colonita, Chisinau municipality, 7 km from Chisinau. The lavender plantation closest to Chisinau, and the youngest. It appeared just 2 years ago.

11. Pelinia, Drochia district, 122 km from Chisinau. Another northern field — Lavanda de Provincie.

12. Blindesti, Ungheni district, 120 km from Chisinau.
